The children in a Head Start class at STEP, Inc., learned that even presidents take letters seriously from three- and four-year old boys and girls.
The 17 children wrote President Barack Obama earlier with their ideas on the kind of pet that he should get for his two daughters, along with a suggested name for the pet.
They also requested a photograph of Obama.
The children's teacher, Twyla Hambrick, and teacher assistant, Pat Childers, helped the children compose their letters.
Childers said the boys and girls had many ideas for a pet, from a horse to a cat.
Not knowing whether they would get a response from Obama, the children waited.
But they didn't have to wait long because Obama responded with a White House photograph of himself.
Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama chose a six-month old Portuguese water dog, named Bo, for their daughters, Sasha and Malia. |
